Alessandro Marzadro was unanimously confirmed as president of the Istituto di Tutela Grappa del Trentino for the 2026-2029 term. The decision was made during the elective assembly on April 29 in Trento. Bruno Pilzer was also confirmed as vice president.

Born in 1986 and originally from Nogaredo, Marzadro graduated in Gastronomic Sciences from the University of Pollenzo. He is the CEO of his family business and represents one of the historic names in Trentino distillation. Since 2025, he has been a member of the board of the National Grappa Consortium.

“It is with great pride and a sense of responsibility that I welcome my confirmation at the helm of the Istituto Tutela Grappa del Trentino, a role that offers me the chance to continue the work we began in the previous mandate while looking to the future with enthusiasm and innovation,” says the re-elected president of the Istituto Tutela Grappa del Trentino, Alessandro Marzadro. “Together with the entire Board, we will strive to promote quality, training, and so-called ‘grappa tourism,’ so that Grappa del Trentino PGI is increasingly recognized as a symbol of excellence and authenticity. Our Trident logo is the synthesis of a human and environmental heritage that must be shared with the consumers of today and tomorrow.”

PRIORITIES OF THE NEW MANDATE

Promotion, protection, training, and the development of “grappa tourism” are at the heart of the new mandate. The Institute will continue the path set out in recent years, aiming to strengthen the positioning of Grappa del Trentino PGI.

“In these three years with Marzadro and the entire board, we have been able to reinterpret the role of Grappa del Trentino, not only by enhancing its quality but above all by looking at the market in a more contemporary way, launching a series of activities aimed at a more modern narrative,” explains Pilzer. “I thank the outgoing board and the current one for what has been achieved and what can be done in this new journey.”

RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND MIXOLOGY

In recent years, the Institute has worked on two main fronts: responsible consumption and the promotion of grappa in mixology.

“In recent years, the Istituto Tutela Grappa del Trentino has worked on two fronts: on one hand, promoting responsible and domestic consumption of grappa, linked to tasting, conviviality, and food pairing; on the other, promoting grappa as a contemporary and versatile ingredient in the world of mixology, involving high-quality cocktail bars and new consumers who are curious and quality-conscious,” explains Alessandro Marzadro.

THE ROLE OF GRAPPA TOURISM

Among the strategic levers, “grappa tourism” is emerging as a growing phenomenon that follows the model of tourism linked to appellations.

“Furthermore, the Institute focuses on the storytelling of the territory and the culture of distillation, leveraging local and international tourism so that the Trident brand is perceived as the synthesis of a human and environmental heritage,” Marzadro continues. “The distillery is transforming into a place of experience, as has already happened with wineries, and the Institute is working to offer hospitality without losing its production identity.”

TRAINING AND THE SUPPLY CHAIN

Training remains a central pillar. The goal is to strengthen the skills of distillers and industry operators.

“Certainly, training our distillers in hospitality, new technologies, and everything necessary to remain dynamic in the market,” concludes Alessandro Marzadro. “This goes alongside the training of our main ambassadors—industry operators, from restaurateurs to wine shop owners and bartenders—an area where we have been committed, with good results, for years.”

THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

In addition to President Alessandro Marzadro and Vice President Bruno Pilzer, the Board of Directors consists of Rudy Zeni, Carlo Pezzi, Graziano Poli, Giuliano Pisoni, Maddalena Cappelletti, Fabio Andreis, and Franco Bertagnolli.
