Registration is now open for the 2025 edition of the competition featuring barladies from across the country
The “Lady Amarena Italy Award 2025” is underway, kicking off the eighth edition of the international “Lady Amarena International” competition, founded in 2015 to mark the centenary of Amarena Fabbri. The official announcement was made by Carlotta Fabbri. As usual, national editions in various countries worldwide will take place alongside the Italian edition. The barladies crowned “queens of mixology” will compete in the 2026 international final scheduled to be held in Italy. Since its inception, the Lady Amarena Award has seen the participation of hundreds of female mixology professionals. Only 94 finalists from 24 countries have managed to secure a spot in the final, competing with ice and shakers.
“The Lady Amarena Award,” stated Nicola Fabbri, CEO of the company and patron of the competition, “was created with the intent of promoting gender equality and supporting the autonomy and visibility of women in the mixology sector. Recognizing their achievements and highlighting their contribution is the first step toward overcoming stereotypes and challenging established conventions. At the same time, the initiative promotes a culture of conscious drinking as an alternative to excess.”
PRIZES AND NEWS FOR THE 2025 EDITION
Professional barladies and baristas can upload their alcoholic or non-alcoholic recipes made with one or more of the following ingredients: Gin Fabbri, Marendry Fabbri, Ratafià Fabbri, Amarena Fabbri fruit and/or syrup, or Fabbri Mixybar Amarena syrup on the dedicated online page. Ten finalists will be selected for each participating country to compete for the title in the local final, where a jury will choose the best recipe and proclaim the national winner of the Lady Amarena Award.
There are important updates for this year’s edition, starting with the final (organized in collaboration with AIBES, the Italian Association of Barmen and Supporters), which will take place aboard a Costa Cruises ship traveling from October 26 to 30 (Genoa, Barcelona, Marseille, and back). Live and in Italian, the aspiring winners must demonstrate not only their mixing skills but also their ability to create a captivating narrative to accompany their signature drink.
Another major update concerns the “special awards.” The “Marendry Award,” the “Gin Fabbri Award,” and the “Non-Alcoholic Award” are joined this year by the “Ratafià Fabbri Award” and the “Coffee Signature Special Award.” The latter officially opens the competition’s doors to the world of coffee and to baristas capable of interpreting the Mixybar and Mixybar Plus range in an original and contemporary way.
The award named after Ratafià, the latest addition to the Premiata Distilleria Fabbri 1905 line, is also a significant new entry. In what the company describes as a “true Amarena Fabbri elixir,” the pure juice of the fruit blends with a fine Sangiovese Superiore Romagna DOP, creating a one-of-a-kind liqueur with an intense, full-bodied, and enveloping aroma.
THE LADY AMARENA COMMUNITY
Furthermore, 2024 saw the birth of “The Lady Amarena Community,” a digital space for inspiration and growth where passionate and talented barladies, baristas, and bartenders meet and exchange ideas to improve their skills. The goal of this community is to promote innovation and creativity in the mixology sector and to provide international visibility to talented professionals, highlighting their skills and helping to overcome the stereotypes and disparities still present in the bar world.
The last national final, held in 2023, featured 10 Ladies and crowned Sardinian Francesca Aste for her low-alcohol cocktail “Bloved Martini,” made with Marendry Fabbri and Fabbri Italian Syrup. Aspiring “Lady Amarena Italy 2025” contestants have until September 15 to submit their recipes, accompanied by videos and photos, for selection by a dedicated Fabbri 1905 team to become one of the 10 finalists.
