An exclusive letter of intent has been signed between the holding company based in Castiglione delle Stiviere (Mantua), which brings together 8 production and commercial companies, and the cooperative in Santo Stefano Belbo (Cuneo). Objective: to enhance the excellence of the Langhe and Moscato through industrial and commercial integration. Focus on international competitiveness and supply chain sustainability.
Veraison Group and Vallebelbo have signed an exclusive letter of intent, the first step toward a joint project of industrial and commercial integration. The agreement represents the beginning of a structured process aimed at creating a common platform to promote Piedmontese wine in international markets. Motivating the operation is the shared desire to tackle the challenges of the Italian wine sector with new tools, in a rapidly evolving global context.
The signed document establishes the foundation for a potential strategic alliance between the two entities. The project aims to strengthen the positioning of the Vallebelbo cooperative, a historic producer of Moscato d’Asti and other Piedmontese denominations, integrating its production potential with the industrial and commercial expertise of Veraison Group. The objective is to create synergies capable of generating value for both parties and, above all, throughout the entire supply chain.
AN AGGREGATION MODEL FOR CONCRETE MARKET RESPONSES
According to Edoardo Freddi, CEO of Veraison Group, the intention is to demonstrate through action that “the cooperative and entrepreneurial worlds can create synergies to generate real value.” The agreement represents a concrete signal of how aggregation can be an effective response to problems that are now structural to the sector: from the concentration of global demand, increasingly managed by large groups, to the impact of climate change on production, to the evolution of distribution channels and growing pressure on margins.
Veraison Group, founded in 2022, operates as a holding company active in the wine & beverage sector and currently brings together eight companies, maintaining their operational autonomy. With over 16 million bottles sold in 2024 and a presence in more than 60 international markets, the group has established itself as one of Italy’s most dynamic operators in terms of expansion and internationalization. The operation with Vallebelbo is part of a growth strategy aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of regional productions, through greater industrial scale and more effective commercial penetration.
VALLEBELBO BETWEEN COOPERATIVE IDENTITY AND DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS
Vallebelbo is a historic cooperative in the Piedmontese wine landscape. Founded in 1956 and based in Santo Stefano Belbo, it currently brings together approximately one hundred winegrowers. The members’ vineyards, distributed across over 300 hectares in the municipalities of Santo Stefano Belbo, Cossano Belbo, and Camo, are primarily dedicated to the production of Moscato d’Asti DOCG, the winery’s flagship. Annual production exceeds 4 million bottles, with an export focus that generates approximately 50% of revenue.
The cooperative’s president, Cristiano Amerio, explained that the decision to begin exclusive negotiations with Veraison Group stems from the need to “open a new chapter in our history,” focusing on the future of the territory and the members. “The letter of intent we just signed is already an important signal of mutual trust. We are now working to reach a final agreement that will allow us to face global markets with renewed strength, without abandoning our identity,” Amerio stated. A clear message that reflects the balance between strategic openness and safeguarding the cooperative model.
COMMON OBJECTIVES AND NEXT STEPS
The agreement being finalized is part of a broader reflection on the future of Piedmontese wine, particularly on how aggregations and synergies between different actors can strengthen the sector, increasing its resilience. The intention expressed by both parties is to build a solid structure capable of generating value not only in economic terms, but also in social and territorial terms. The proposed model does not envision a simple acquisition, but rather a strategic alliance that combines expertise, commercial networks, and production capacity.
In the coming months, Veraison Group and Vallebelbo will work to define the details of the agreement. The parties have not announced specific deadlines, but have stated that further information will be provided later. Meanwhile, the initiative presents itself as an interesting case for the Italian wine sector, at a historic moment when the need for new forms of cooperation and consolidation is becoming increasingly evident.
