Bròc, la Birra Agricola Toscana di Ugo Contini Bonacossi

Bròc, the Tuscan Farm Beer by Ugo Contini Bonacossi

Artisan farm beer finds in Tuscany an expression still little explored but rich in potential. Bròc is a Tuscan Farm Beer produced and bottled in Roccatederighi, in the municipality of Roccalbegna, in the province of Grosseto. The project bears the signature of Ugo Contini Bonacossi and is part of a production vision linked to the agricultural supply chain and the use of traditional and natural ingredients.

TUSCAN FARM BEER AND PRODUCTION CHAIN

The definition of “farm beer” is not accidental. Bròc originates from a production process that claims a direct connection with primary production, in line with an approach that in recent years has found space in the Italian brewing landscape as well. The beer is produced and packaged at the facility in Roccalbegna (Grosseto), emphasizing a precise territorial rootedness declared on the label.

TRADITIONAL INGREDIENTS AND NON-PASTEURIZATION

The ingredient list includes water, barley malt, wheat malt, hops, and yeast. The beer is neither filtered nor pasteurized, a characteristic that results in the presence of natural sediment at the bottom of the bottle. A technical detail that also guides storage and serving methods, recommended in a vertical position and in a cool place away from light.

THE SENSORY PROFILE OF BRÒC BEER

In the glass, Bròc presents a deep golden color, slightly hazy, consistent with the choice not to filter the product. On the nose, evident cereal notes emerge, with hints of bread and malt, accompanied by a delicate herbaceous component attributable to hops. On the palate, the drinking experience is smooth, with a balance between the sweetness of the malts and a moderately bitter finish, without excess.

ROCCALBEGNA AND ARTISAN PRODUCTION IN MAREMMA

The choice of Roccalbegna as the production site places Bròc in an area of Maremma less associated with craft beer, but strongly characterized from an agricultural standpoint. A context that reinforces the message of a beer conceived as a local expression, far from industrial standards and built on a declared artisan dimension.

CONSUMPTION AND STORAGE

Being an unfiltered and unpasteurized beer, Bròc requires careful storage. The minimum shelf life indicated on the label suggests relatively prompt consumption, consistent with the product type. The natural sediment does not represent a defect, but a consequence of the chosen production process.
