The project of the Vignaioli del Nord Ovest Sardo (ViNos). Thirteen wineries unite to promote the territory.
On Monday, July 14, at Podere 45 in Baratz (Sassari), in the heart of Nurra, Sardinia’s first collective wine was bottled. The project is signed ViNOS (Vignaioli Nord Ovest Sardegna), an association that brings together thirteen wineries from Northwest Sardinia. An unprecedented initiative on the island, which pooled part of each member’s harvest to create a symbolic bottle, without a commercial label, with the aim of giving voice to a social and cultural vision of wine.
The bottling, a truly collective gesture, took place in the presence of the winemakers and representatives of local institutions. The mayors of the municipalities of Sassari, Sorso, Sennori, Alghero, and Usini participated.
ViNOS: AN IDEA BORN IN UNIVERSITY HALLS
Hosting the event was Gian Piero Saccu, vice president of ViNOS and one of the managers of Podere 45: “Today this is the home of ViNOS, an idea that was officially born in 2023 but was gestating even earlier, in the heart of our university days.” The project aims to move beyond the individual narrative of producers to build a shared identity, while remaining faithful to the winemaker’s vocation.
Beside him, president Mario Bagella emphasized the significance of the gesture: “Bottling is a powerful act. What is being born today we will build together, one drop at a time. Sassari is a cultural epicenter and school of thought. Institutions are not simply buildings, but relationships. We are beginning to outline a geography of the soul.”
SARDINIA’S FIRST COLLECTIVE WINE: A PACT BETWEEN WINERIES AND COMMUNITY
ViNOS represents approximately 80 hectares of vineyards, with a total production of about 450,000 liters. The association is founded on a common vision that unites poetry, history, and the culture of agricultural work. A deliberate choice to stay or return to cultivate with a shared perspective, enhancing local specificities.
The symbolic gesture of bottling has strengthened a pact between wineries and institutions, aimed at active and shared policies to make this part of the island accessible to residents and visitors.
A TOAST TO SARDINIA’S FUTURE
The ViNOS association was also created for this purpose: to give voice to the winemakers of the Northwest, making them protagonists in building the future. “We are here. Not as spectators, but as builders, as collaborators,” they declare. The island’s first collective wine is already a reality. And it carries a clear message: the territory is enhanced together.
