Sardinia Wine Tourism Network, a pilot project for the island’s wine and tourism

The Sardinia Wine Tourism Network (RES) aims to build an organized model for regional wine tourism. The pilot project is funded by the Department of Agriculture of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and was created to integrate wine production, hospitality, territory, and culture.

Presented nationally at Vinitaly 2026, the network is developed as a regional-scale circuit. It involves various areas of the island and enhances Sardinia’s landscape, cultural, and food and wine identities.

WINE TOURISM IN SARDINIA, A REGIONAL CIRCUIT FOR WINERIES

The goal of the Sardinia Wine Tourism Network is to create an integrated wine-related offering capable of generating new opportunities for wine businesses. The project also aims to contribute to the reduction of seasonal tourism fluctuations and strengthen the island’s appeal beyond beach tourism.

The model provides for a territorial organization capable of connecting wineries, hospitality services, local culture, and the landscape. Sardinia is thus presented as a multifaceted wine tourism destination, with routes linked to the island’s various wine-growing areas.

TRAINING, LOCAL ENGAGEMENT, AND STUDY VISITS

Network participants are following a path of skill development. Activities are not limited to classroom or online training but include local engagement, discussions with experts, and study visits.

In recent months, a group of Sardinian wine operators participated in an educational tour of Rioja Alta, considered one of the leading European models for wine tourism. Further opportunities for exchange with national and international organizations are planned.

SARDINIA WINE TOURISM NETWORK, AIMING FOR CONSOLIDATION BY 2026

The journey of the Sardinia Wine Tourism Network will continue until November. The goal is to consolidate the model by 2026 and progressively expand the network.

The expansion of the circuit will maintain a selective approach, focused on the quality of the offering. The project thus aims to define a regional standard for Sardinian wine tourism, connecting wine businesses, territories, and hospitality services.
