Oscar Champagne 2026 returns to Rome, the Italian Sommelier Foundation event dedicated to Champagne culture. The appointment is set for Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Hotel Rome Cavalieri, at via Alberto Cadlolo 101, with two tasting sessions dedicated to great Maisons and prestigious Vignerons from Champagne.
The initiative, reserved for FIS sommeliers and their guests, includes the tasting of 24 selected labels, divided into two sessions: one in the morning, from 10 AM to 2 PM, and one in the afternoon, from 4 PM to 8 PM. Each session will feature 4 producers, with 3 Champagnes per producer, for a total of 12 wines for tasting per time slot.
TWO TASTING SESSIONS IN ROME
According to the Italian Sommelier Foundation, each producer will have one hour to present the wines for tasting. Producers, Chefs de Cave and Vignerons will be present in the room, accompanied by a FIS instructor. Simultaneous French/Italian/French translation will also be provided.
Session 1, scheduled for Saturday, May 16 from 10 AM to 2 PM, with entry from 8:30 AM, will feature Pierre Paillard, Gosset, Bruno Paillard and Moët & Chandon. Among the announced labels are, among others, Les Parcelles Bouzy Grand Cru, Les Maillerettes Blanc de Noirs Bouzy, Grande Réserve, Cuvée Suzanne Rosé, Première Cuvée, Rosé Première Cuvée and Grand Vintage 2016.
For this first session, Quentin Paillard for Pierre Paillard, Odilon de Varine for Gosset, Alice Paillard for Bruno Paillard and Fanny Bonet-Monserrat, Senior Brand Manager of Moët & Chandon, are announced.
THE MAISONS AND VIGNERONS OF THE AFTERNOON SESSION
Session 2, scheduled from 4 PM to 8 PM with entry from 3:15 PM, will be dedicated to Ployez Jacquemart, Gallimard Père et Fils, Paul Déthune and Pommery & Greno. For tasting, among others, Blanc de Blancs Extra Quality, Extra Brut Vintage, Quintessence, Amphoressence, Rosé Grand Cru and Cuvée Louise Grand Cru Millésimé 2008. For the afternoon, Laurence Ployez, Arnaud Gallimard, Sophie Déthune, as well as Clement Pierlot and Elena Garavaglia for Pommery Italia are expected.
COSTS, RESERVATIONS AND PARTICIPATION RULES
The indicated participation fee is 120 euros for each session. Reservation is mandatory. Participation in the events is reserved for Italian Sommelier Foundation members in good standing with their annual fee. To book, simply be registered on the Bibenda portal. There is also the possibility for each member to be accompanied by two guests.
The materials included in the tasting fee are educational glass marker placemat and Oscar Champagne Tasting Notebook. The event venue will be the Hotel Rome Cavalieri in Rome.
