Brunello di Montalcino closes the last two months with a bottling recovery. Volumes return to levels close to the same period in 2023 (-0.9%). The boost in the last month was decisive, with over 1.9 million equivalent bottles. A figure up 39% compared to October 2024. This was announced by the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino at the opening of Benvenuto Brunello.
7.63 MILLION BOTTLES IN THE FIRST 10 MONTHS
According to the Valoritalia-based analysis, based on state tax strips delivered, the first ten months of the year total 7.63 million bottles. The comparison with 2023 (7.69 million) shows substantial alignment. The strong interest in the new vintage, 2021, the star of the Montalcino preview, has an impact. The wine will be on the market from January, but has already generated a peak exceeding 2.1 million equivalent bottles.
“There isn’t necessarily an automatic correlation between bottling and product sold,” says Consortium president Giacomo Bartolommei, “but the figure is nonetheless an interesting market indicator that brings us back to a stable position after more challenging months.”
Bartolommei highlights the need for a targeted promotional program: “Regardless, the Consortium is convinced of the need to activate a promotional program for the denomination, with collective participation in the main and historic market—the United States—but also in other markets, with the goal of diversifying business opportunities for our wines as much as possible. The program, planned to start in 2026, will be defined in the coming weeks.”
