THE EVENT IN THE HEART OF VAL D’ORCIA

Promoted by the Municipality of San Quirico d’Orcia together with the Consorzio del Vino Orcia, the festival will be centered at Palazzo Chigi Zondadari. Here, for three days, tasting stalls and technical tastings dedicated to Orcia Doc wines will be available. The event will also involve the surrounding area, aiming to showcase not only wine production but also other local gastronomic excellence, thanks to the collaboration with the Strada del Vino Orcia.

INAUGURATION IN BAGNO VIGNONI

The official opening is scheduled for Friday, April 24 at 4:30 PM in the square of Bagno Vignoni. Tasting stalls from Orcia Doc producers will be set up around the historic thermal pool. During the evening, guided tours of the thermal village are planned, along with the launch of “Orcia Wine Music,” accompanied by local gastronomic offerings.

“The Orcia Wine Festival represents an unmissable appointment for San Quirico d’Orcia and the entire Val d’Orcia, capable of showcasing our extraordinary oenological and landscape heritage at its best,” emphasizes Mayor Marco Bartoli. “This fifteenth edition comes at a particularly significant time: Orcia wine continues to grow in quality and recognition, while our territory, a UNESCO World Heritage site, attracts more and more visitors seeking authentic experiences. The festival is not just an event for wine enthusiasts, but a concrete opportunity to share our deepest identity.”

“The festival represents an important moment for the promotion of our wines and the enhancement of a unique territory, recognized worldwide for its beauty and authenticity,” explains Giulitta Zamperini, president of the Consorzio del Vino Orcia. “The Orcia Wine Festival is not just a wine celebration, but also an opportunity for meeting and sharing within our denomination, giving the many attendees the chance to experience these three days immersed in the culture, flavors, and landscapes of Val d’Orcia.”

ORCIA DOC BY THE NUMBERS

The Orcia Doc denomination was established in February 2000 and includes twelve municipalities south of Siena. It currently has 153 hectares of declared vineyards out of a potential 400 hectares. Average annual production is approximately 250,000 bottles, produced by about sixty wineries. Over 30 companies are part of the Protection Consortium, which has carried out monitoring and promotion for the entire denomination since 2014.

Key local initiatives also include events such as DivinOrcia and the Orcia Wine Festival itself, a spring appointment dedicated to the promotion of wine and the territory.
