Italian Signature Wines Academy (ISWA) renews its Board of Directors and opens a new phase of development. The alliance, created to promote Italian wine excellence worldwide, aims to strengthen its growth path through renewed governance. After four terms, Marilisa Allegrini steps down as president. Her contribution was instrumental in the birth, evolution, and consolidation of the consortium project.
Succeeding her is Antonio Capaldo, unanimously elected by the shareholders’ assembly. President of Feudi di San Gregorio and a founding member of the Consortium, Capaldo also represents a change in territorial perspective, marking the beginning of a new phase for ISWA.
“Never more than at this moment has being together held such strategic value for us at ISWA,” comments Antonio Capaldo. “We need scale, flexibility, and cohesion to face the challenges characterizing the wine world, and we need to do so by doubling down on the cultural values that guide all our companies. The role of the Academy—the ‘A’ in our acronym—is fundamental for the wine of the future.”
CONTINUITY AND NEW APPOINTMENTS IN GOVERNANCE
In the spirit of operational continuity, Stefano Benini, Vice President & Export Director of Frescobaldi, and Roberto Bruno, Managing Director & VP of Sales of Fontanafredda, have been reconfirmed as vice presidents.
Marina Cvetic, sole director of Masciarelli, also joins the Presidential Committee, taking on the role of vice president. Her presence expands the representation of member companies, with a contribution focused on development and innovation.
AN ALLIANCE OF NINE FAMILY-OWNED COMPANIES
Operational since 2015, ISWA was born from the initiative of five wineries. Today, it brings together nine family-owned Italian wine businesses: Allegrini (Valpolicella), Arnaldo Caprai, Bellavista, Feudi di San Gregorio, Fontanafredda, Frescobaldi, Masciarelli, Planeta, and Villa Sandi. These companies represent the main Italian denominations, united with the goal of enhancing the authenticity and quality of national wine and hospitality in international markets.
STRATEGIES AND OBJECTIVES OF THE CONSORTIUM
ISWA is not just a tool for sharing costs for common activities like trade fairs and events. Thanks to internal synergies, the consortium also develops commercial agreements with international operators across various channels and markets.
The new course led by Capaldo aims to strengthen these dynamics. The goal is to increase brand visibility, improve wine positioning, and create new opportunities for growth and profitability for member companies.
