Cantina di Pitigliano has appointed Antonio Spurio as its new director. The decision comes at the end of a lengthy selection process and marks the beginning of a new phase for the historic Maremma cooperative. An agronomist and wine consultant, Spurio boasts over twenty years of experience in the sector, with expertise ranging from production management to commercial strategy.
Throughout his career, he has held prominent roles in major Italian wine operations, overseeing the development of domestic and international markets. He is a member of the Technical Commission of the Consorzio DOC Maremma Toscana, a judge at the Vermentino Grand Prix, and commission president for Valoritalia.
“QUALITY, IDENTITY, AND INNOVATION AT THE HEART OF OUR WORK”
“Taking on the directorship of Cantina di Pitigliano is both an honor and a great responsibility for me,” says Spurio. “Maremma is a land I know and love deeply: I intend to work to strengthen the bond between our members, the territory, and the markets, focusing on quality, identity, and innovation.”
The cooperative looks to the future with confidence, directing its strategies toward sustainability, enhancement of historic denominations—starting with Bianco di Pitigliano DOC—and modernization of production and communication processes.
TRADITION AND FUTURE
“A new phase is opening,” comments president Paolo Lorenzo Spicci. “The role of director is once again central to our structure. With Antonio Spurio, we aim to unite tradition and future, ensuring continuity of our identity while embracing a vision capable of meeting the challenges of global markets and innovation.”
With this appointment, Cantina di Pitigliano renews its cooperative mission, maintaining the principles that have guided it for over sixty years: enhancing the work of member winegrowers, promoting quality as an authentic expression of the territory, and consolidating the role of Maremma Toscana in the international wine landscape.
