MANRICO BIAGINI CONFIRMED AS PRESIDENT

Biagini served as vice president from 2019 and, since last June, assumed the presidency pro tempore, succeeding Irina Strozzi until the end of the term. The Biagini family is among the Consortium’s founding members. Manrico Biagini has been part of it for over thirty years, contributing to the promotion of Vernaccia di San Gimignano, the first Italian wine to receive Controlled Designation of Origin status in 1966.
THE PRESIDENT’S WORDS
“I thank the Board members for the trust they have placed in me by electing me President of the Vernaccia di San Gimignano Wine Consortium,” Biagini stated. “For me, having always defined myself as a Man of Vernaccia di San Gimignano, this position is an honor, but also a great responsibility. I know I can count on a young, strong team united by love for this denomination and awareness of its cultural, historical, and oenological value. My commitment will be to represent all producers, large and small, with balance and attentiveness, promoting Vernaccia di San Gimignano worldwide while also protecting it in its authenticity. Because its strength is born right here, among these hills, with its people, in the deep connection with San Gimignano.”
VICE PRESIDENTS AND UPCOMING CHALLENGES
The elected vice presidents are Lisanna Boschini, Andrea Ciappi, and Michael Falchini. The new Board is called upon to face a significant phase for the Denomination. In 2026, the Consortium will celebrate two important milestones: 750 years of Vernaccia di San Gimignano history and 60 years since DOC recognition. A double anniversary that underscores the longevity and vitality of a wine that symbolizes Italian winemaking culture and the connection between territory and identity.
