Asti, vendemmia in nero in due aziende di Bubbio e Loazzolo controlli guardia di finanza

Asti, undeclared harvest labor in two wineries in Bubbio and Loazzolo

The outcome of inspections by the Fiamme Gialle, who inspected Piedmontese wineries and restaurants, discovering undeclared and irregular workers. Fines exceeding 128,000 euros and proposed business suspensions aim to ensure legality and consumer protection. Inspections will continue throughout September.

Three wineries in Bubbio and Loazzolo and a restaurant in Castagnole delle Lanze were targeted by the Guardia di Finanza. Of the 30 workers identified, 10 were completely undeclared. Four were irregularly employed. Of these, 7 are foreign nationals. The companies involved, whose names have not been disclosed by investigators, will have to pay administrative fines totaling 128,700 euros.

This is the most striking result of the summer inspections by the Guardia di Finanza in the province of Asti, who have combed through the wine, tourism, and catering sectors during the 2025 harvest. Activities will continue in this corner of Piedmont to ensure legality and consumer protection.

ECONOMIC MONITORING AND SEASONAL LABOR

The intensification of investigations is due to the strong demand for seasonal labor in viticulture. This is an aspect shared with the tourism and catering sectors in areas of high traffic and significant economic importance for the province of Asti. Between June and August, the financiers of Asti and Canelli carried out a total of 109 inspections. The checks led to the citation of 52 individuals and the reporting of 10 company managers, 3 for tax crimes and 7 for undue receipt of basic income (reddito di cittadinanza).

ADDITIONAL MEASURES AND CONTINUATION OF INSPECTIONS

The companies were also served with two proposals for business suspension sent to the competent Territorial Labor Inspectorate for employing undeclared labor exceeding 10% of the workforce. Inspection activities will continue throughout September, with particular attention to regulatory obligations regarding labor during the harvest and tourism events.

The Guardia di Finanza initiative aims to ensure the regular management of labor, fair competition, and consumer protection. This reinforced action highlights the focus on economic-financial legality, safeguarding the reputation of the territory and its quality products, including Doc and Docg wines.
