Cantine Pellegrino opens a new chapter in its winemaking journey with the collaboration of Pietro Russo, Master of Wine. The goal is to strengthen the winery’s production vision and consolidate its positioning in the Italian and international markets. A leading figure in the contemporary wine landscape, Russo is the first Italian winemaker to earn the Master of Wine title, a recognition conferred by the Institute of Masters of Wine in London. Born in Marsala, he brings deep knowledge of the Sicilian territory, combined with a technical and analytical approach of international scope.

THE VALUE OF TERRITORY AND EXPERTISE

“The growth path our winery has pursued for years now finds new momentum in this collaboration,” states Benedetto Renda, President of Cantine Pellegrino. “Pietro represents added value for the expertise and international vision he will bring to our technical team, but also for his Marsala roots, which share with us a love for this part of Sicily and its wines. He is an important piece in our journey toward excellence.”

For Pietro Russo, the collaboration with Cantine Pellegrino is also a return to his origins. “Working with Cantine Pellegrino represents for me the opportunity to unite my homeland with the chance to contribute to an ambitious project that looks to the future with solidity and authenticity. The history, expertise, and vision of this estate represent an extraordinary opportunity to promote all Sicilian wine.”

A HISTORY LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

Founded in 1880, Cantine Pellegrino is among Sicily’s longest-standing wineries. The estate manages a complete production chain that includes white and red wines from native varieties such as Grillo, Zibibbo, and Nero d’Avola, as well as Marsala and Passiti di Pantelleria. With the motto “Best of West,” the winery continues to showcase the diversity and richness of western Sicily. The collaboration with Pietro Russo represents a further step in this direction—a shared project aimed at expressing the best of Sicilian wine to the world with territorial authenticity and contemporary language.
