Champagne Day 2025: 4 perfect bottles

Four bottles to celebrate Champagne Day 2025, scheduled for tomorrow, October 24. Four interpretations that showcase the elegance and complexity of the wine that symbolizes celebration, to be taken seriously but without too much formality, in Italy. As suggested by the Bureau du Champagne Italy, French bubbles can also successfully accompany simple Italian cured meats, available at any supermarket or deli.

The four Champagnes suggested for Champagne Day 2025, in ascending order of price, are:

  1. Origine Brut – Tribaut-Schloesser
  2. “Hommage 1921” Extra Brut – Damien Hugot
  3. Brut Réserve – Pol Roger
  4. Blanc De Blancs Millésimé 2018 – Jacquart
ORIGINE BRUT – TRIBAUT-SCHLOESSER

Balance and harmony characterize Origine Brut by Tribaut-Schloesser, the result of a blend of 50% Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay, and 20% Pinot Noir, with 20% reserve wines. It comes from eight terroirs in the Vallée de la Marne and the Montagne de Reims, with 24 months of aging on the lees.

On the palate, it is fresh and fruity, with a long and harmonious finish, suitable for aperitifs or light dishes. The maison, located in the Vallée du Brunet, practices Agriculture Biologique certified sustainable viticulture, enhancing distinctive soils and microclimates.

The vineyards enjoy South/South-East exposure and mixed limestone and clay soils. Grapes purchased from four neighboring municipalities, including Écueil Premier Cru, complete the cuvées of the Origine range.

Price: 35 euros. Distributed in Italy by Ca’ di Rajo.

“HOMMAGE 1921” EXTRA BRUT – DAMIEN HUGOT

A tribute to family tradition and the grandfather of the Épernay vigneron. “Hommage 1921” by Damien Hugot is born from a blend of 75% Chardonnay and 25% Meunier, coming from the vineyards of Épernay and Chavot. After the secondary fermentation according to the champenoise method, it ages for at least 24 months on the lees.

On the nose, floral notes, apple, and bread crust emerge; in the mouth, freshness dominates, with a dry and persistent finish. Ideal as an aperitif or with raw fish and sushi, it is a Champagne that expresses the artisanal precision of its producer.

The Hugot winery, located in the Côte des Blancs, primarily works with Grand Cru grapes from Chouilly and Cramant, many from century-old plots. A philosophy that prioritizes the finesse of Chardonnay and the purity of the terroir.

Price: 50 euros. Distributed in Italy by Ca’ di Rajo.

BRUT RÉSERVE – POL ROGER

A symbol of the maison’s style, the Brut Réserve by Pol Roger – also known as white foil for its white capsule – is a Champagne of great balance and aromatic complexity, blended from approximately thirty different wines.

Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims provides body and structure, Pinot Meunier adds roundness and fruit, while Chardonnay from Épernay gives elegance and brilliance. The result is a rich and precise Champagne, suitable for any occasion that calls for a prestigious glass.

Price: approximately 65 euros. Distributed in Italy by Compagnia del Vino.

BLANC DE BLANCS MILLÉSIMÉ 2018 – JACQUART

The latest creation from Jacquart, presented in Milan during the “Jacquart on Stage” event, represents one of the purest interpretations of Chardonnay in the region. The Blanc de Blancs Millésimé 2018 is made from grapes coming from Premier and Grand Cru sites such as Chouilly, Avize, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Villers-Marmery, and Trépail.

It ages for six years on the lees and rests for another six months after disgorgement. On the nose, it offers notes of white flowers and wild plants, while the palate reveals a fine effervescence and a delicate citrus acidity. Long and persistent finish.

Founded in 1964, the maison Jacquart embodies a modern vision of Champagne, based on understated elegance and verticality. Chardonnay is the backbone of its cuvées, while Pinot Noir and Meunier complete the mosaic of over 60 crus that make up the range.

Price: approximately 130 euros. Distributed in Italy by Rinaldi 1957.
