VITALIANO MACCARIO: BARBERA ATTRACTS AN INTERNATIONAL AUDIENCE

“The Barbera D’Asti Wine Festival,” comments Vitaliano Maccario, President of the Consorzio Barbera d’Asti e Vini del Monferrato, “represents an event capable of attracting a diverse and international audience to our territory and to the Barbera grape variety. This appointment allows us to promote the identity and visibility of Barbera d’Asti and our denominations—4 DOCGs and 9 DOCs—elevating their prestige worldwide.”

“This is a unique opportunity for all wine lovers,” the president adds, “as well as for the press and industry professionals, to deepen their knowledge of Monferrato wines and to showcase our wonderful region, starting with the value of its winemaking.”

BARBERA WINE FEST 2025: THE PROGRAM

The event opens on the afternoon of Friday, November 7, and officially inaugurates at 6:00 PM with an institutional talk focused on sustainability.
The event will feature expert speakers, Consortium representatives, specialized press, authorities, and industry opinion leaders.

An exclusive show cooking by a resident chef from a Michelin-starred restaurant is scheduled for Saturday, November 8. Following this, the large Institutional Desk will open, featuring labels from participating companies at their corporate stands along with various denominations.

During the evening, from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM, an original sensory aperitif will be offered, featuring blind tastings of some of the denominations protected by the Consortium (Barbera, Albarossa, Albugnano, Freisa, Grignolino, Ruchè), for an educational and engaging experience. Accompanying the glasses will be a gastronomic selection highlighting the seasonal excellence of the territory.

ASTI: BARBERA CALLS WINE PROFESSIONALS TO GATHER

On Sunday, November 9, the public and wine lovers will be welcome in Piazza Alfieri, where from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, it will be possible to meet the wineries during two tasting sessions. Consumers can sample the wines in the direct presence of the producers or through tasting desks guided by sommeliers, discovering all the nuances of the Consortium’s denominations. On both Saturday and Sunday, from 6:30 PM onwards, the Institutional Desk will be managed by sommeliers featuring labels from participating companies alongside gastronomic offerings.

There will be no shortage of thematic masterclasses held by prestigious names in wine journalism, providing in-depth moments reserved for the press and enthusiasts. The Festival concludes on Monday, November 10, a day entirely dedicated to industry professionals (restaurateurs, wine shop owners, buyers, sommeliers) and the press, who will complete the experience with winery visits focused on sustainable companies managed by young entrepreneurs.

CONSORZIO BARBERA D’ASTI E VINI DEL MONFERRATO: A PROTAGONIST WITH THE TERRITORY

The Barbera Wine Festival is promoted by the Consorzio Barbera d’Asti e Vini del Monferrato, in collaboration with Go Wine, and is designed as a widespread event connecting wine, territory, and community. Great attention will be paid to the theme of environmental and social sustainability, the promotion of young producers, and the building of a conscious dialogue between new generations and wine culture.

The link with the territory is the common thread of the Born Sustainable promotion project, co-funded by the European Union, which brings together the consortia of Barbera d’Asti and Monferrato Wines, Roccaverano DOP, and Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco. These Consortia represent not only Italian food and wine excellence
but also models of environmental, economic, and social sustainability.
