Masi Agricola presents Pinot Noir del Re at Vinitaly 2026, a new Pinot Noir produced at Tenuta Casa Re, in Oltrepò Pavese. The wine is made from grapes grown in the municipality of Montecalvo Versiggia, in the Versa Valley, in the province of Pavia, an area historically linked to the cultivation of this grape variety.

The company had already launched the project on the same property with the sparkling wines Moxxè del Re Brut and Rosé. With this new still wine, it expands its presence in the region. The official presentation of the wine is scheduled at the Masi Agricola stand (Hall 7, stand C3).

TENUTA CASA RE AND THE MASI PROJECT IN OLTREPÒ PAVESE

Tenuta Casa Re was acquired by Masi in 2023. The vineyard covers approximately 15 hectares in a single block, planted entirely with Pinot Noir. The area is located in the pre-Apennine belt of Oltrepò Pavese, with an average altitude of about 250 meters and north-northeast exposure. The soils are composed of limestone and marl with the presence of clay and silt, while the climate is continental, with cold winters and early springs.

VINIFICATION AND AGING OF PINOT NOIR DEL RE

Pinot Noir del Re is produced with 100% Pinot Noir grapes from the estate. The harvest generally takes place in September. After crushing and destemming, the grapes undergo cold maceration and fermentation in steel at a controlled temperature for about ten days.

The wine subsequently ages for six months in oak barriques. The alcohol content is 12.12% vol., with a potential evolution in the bottle indicated at approximately five years.

COMMENTS FROM SANDRO BOSCAINI

Pinot Noir is ‘the’ wine,” states Sandro Boscaini, president of the Masi Group, “no ifs or buts: essential and never showy; it does not like excesses and, despite having a well-defined personality, it does not need long maturation but rather respect for its nature. Here, in Oltrepò Pavese, it finds its ideal zone and reaches its maximum expression in a perfect balance of refinement and silkiness.”

“Pinot Noir del Re fits into Masi’s strategy aimed at enhancing local territories. We are ready, with due respect, to contribute to the new international breath of Oltrepò Pavese,” concludes Boscaini, “putting our historical heritage, technical know-how, and vocation for export at the service of Pinot Noir.”
