Brunello di Montalcino, Guglielmo Ascheri named new director of the Consortium

Change of leadership at the Brunello di Montalcino Wine Consortium. Guglielmo Ascheri is the new director of the consortium body. The appointment comes from the board of directors. Ascheri takes over from Andrea Machetti, who served from February 2023 until December 2025.

“We are delighted to welcome Guglielmo Ascheri, a true Sienese, to the Consortium,” comments the President of the Consortium, Giacomo Bartolommei. “His professional background and the experience gained over fifteen years in sports marketing, together with his strong ties to the local area, represent a valuable contribution to our organization’s activities.”

“His cross-disciplinary skills will also allow us to broaden our perspectives and develop new synergies even outside the world of wine. We are certain that under his direction, the Consortium will continue to strengthen the positioning and prestige of the denomination. Finally, on behalf of all the members,” concludes Bartolommei, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Andrea Machetti for the important work carried out over the last three years.”

GUGLIELMO ASCHERI’S PROFILE

Originally from Siena, Ascheri has gained over fifteen years of experience in the sports business. His professional career has focused on the development of strategic partnerships, commercial growth, and managing relationships with companies, organizations, and institutions.

A graduate in Economics and Business, he earned an international Master’s in Strategy and Planning of Sporting Events. Throughout his career, he has maintained a strong bond with his home territory, with the goal of contributing to its growth and enhancement.
