The Top 100 Best Italian Wines Guide by Winemag is the annual selection, curated by our editorial team, of the year’s hundred best Italian wines
The Winemag Guide – Top 100 Best Italian Wines is an ebook/pdf guide—printable on request—that features must-try conventional, natural, organic, biodynamic, and no-added-sulfite wines, tasted blind following the submission of samples by producers. Registration requires the payment of a modest fee to help cover the production costs of the Guide itself. It goes without saying that payment of the fee in no way guarantees inclusion in the Guide, which occurs solely and exclusively based on the scores awarded during the blind tasting.
Above all, the focus is on typicity and respect for the varietal, which must remain free from the influence of so-called “international taste” and the commercial logic that tends to standardize the various Italian wine Appellations. The idea is to put Italy back at the center of the glass, with all the fine nuances of its grape varieties and terroirs, from the sea to the mountains, by way of plains and hills.
THE WINEMAG GUIDE
Closely linked to the first pillar is our desire to bury the hatchet of fundamentalism and “oenological racism“: what must convince, strike, and move us is the wine itself, not the production technique or philosophy. Another focus of the Top 100 Best Italian Wines Guide by WineMag.it is on producers and winemakers who focus on enhancing the expression of individual crus within their vineyards.
In fact, we believe that so-called “zonation“, or “parcelization” at the estate level, is an extra weapon for Made in Italy oenology in the vast sea of wine and international trends. All that remains is to wish you happy drinking with the Top 100 Best Italian Wines Guide by WineMag.it.
