On Sunday, November 16, Birrifici Aperti Unionbirrai returns, the national day promoted by the association of small independent craft breweries. An invitation to enter breweries throughout Italy to discover the artisanal brewing world up close. The slogan chosen for the 2025 edition, “We open the doors, you bring the thirst,” captures the convivial and inclusive spirit of the initiative.

A JOURNEY THROUGH ITALIAN BREWERIES

Over 40 breweries across 15 regions will be involved, ready to welcome enthusiasts and the curious into their production spaces. The program includes guided tours, tastings, meetings with brewers, and insights into raw materials and production processes. An opportunity to discover the stories behind each label and understand the cultural and territorial value of Italian craft beer.

“The goal of the initiative, now in its third edition and having become a regular autumn and spring event – states Vittorio Ferraris, general director of Unionbirrai – is to create a direct connection between those who produce beer and those who consume it, promoting knowledge of a product that represents quality, sustainability, and territorial identity. Our breweries are not simply production facilities, but true cultural and social landmarks.”

A JOURNEY THROUGH CULTURE, TASTE, AND TERRITORY

From north to south, from Piedmont to Sicily, passing through Tuscany, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Puglia, and Veneto, Birrifici Aperti Unionbirrai confirms itself as an opportunity to discover territories through craft beer. Each stop represents an authentic experience that weaves together culture, gastronomy, and hospitality. Unionbirrai also reiterates the theme of official recognition of the tourism value of craft breweries.

“We believe the time has come to officially recognize the tourism value of craft breweries, supporting at the regulatory level the creation of Beer Routes – concludes Ferraris –. A winning model, already established for wine and oil, that can revitalize tourism in inland areas and support local economies.”
