Lower yields than average but satisfactory quality for a 2025 vintage slightly ahead of the average of recent years
Producers in the Colli Euganei are in full swing, where the harvest began about a week earlier than usual. With the Moscato harvest completed, it is now the turn of Serprino, while the black Bordeaux varieties will have to wait a few more days. The sanitary state is currently excellent, with an absence of downy and powdery mildew, the main threats of the entire season.
The rains of recent days have not caused particular concern, except for some logistical issues with ongoing harvesting, which in some cases was postponed. On the contrary, for late-ripening varieties, the water ensured a good water reserve after last month’s intense heat. According to the Consorzio di Tutela Vini Colli Euganei, if the weather stabilizes now, ripening will conclude optimally, allowing the clusters to concentrate aromas and sugars.
2025 HARVEST: A GOOD VINTAGE IN THE COLLI EUGANEI
A good vintage is therefore expected, with healthy grapes rich in aromatic precursors, thanks to cool nights and mild days, especially in the southern area of the Hills where rainfall was lower. Quantities will be slightly lower, as usually happens in early vintages, but overall it will be a positive year, with white grapes showing very high quality levels. Now we just have to wait for the harvest of the late varieties, mainly red grapes, to draw a final balance.
