Vendemmia 2025 a Montalcino al via il 15 settembre brunello rosso di montalcino

2025 Harvest in Montalcino Begins September 15

Healthy vineyards and quality grapes open the harvest campaign. Volumes slightly below average are expected, but prospects for balanced wines with strong expressiveness. The Brunello di Montalcino Wine Consortium emphasizes the denomination’s strength in a complex international context.

In Montalcino, the 2025 harvest will begin on Monday, September 15 for most wineries. According to monitoring by the Brunello di Montalcino Wine Consortium, the vineyards show positive health and vegetative conditions, with a slight phenological advance compared to the seasonal average.

From a quantitative standpoint, production is estimated to be slightly below the average of the last five years. A figure that does not seem to concern producers, who are focused on grape quality.

QUALITY OVER QUANTITY

“The outlook for the upcoming harvest in Montalcino – comments Giacomo Bartolommei, president of the Brunello di Montalcino Wine Consortium – is positive, especially from a qualitative standpoint. We expect lower quantity but excellent quality. The yield reduction policy we have been applying for some time to preserve the quality of our wines allows us to manage the balance between supply and demand in an equilibrated way while safeguarding the high positioning of our denomination, also in light of the current international context.”

VINTAGE WITHOUT CLIMATIC ISSUES

The main vegetative phases of the vineyard proceeded regularly, including the final ripening of the grapes. No damage from frost or spring rains was recorded, nor any significant impact from adverse weather events.

Even phytosanitary pressure remained average with no product losses, thanks to constant monitoring and management practices adopted by winegrowers.
