Valdo Spumanti celebrates its first 100 years with the acquisition of the Friulian winery I Magredi, based in San Giorgio della Richinvelda (Pordenone). The Valdobbiadene-based company, which recorded revenues of just under 80 million euros in 2024, aims to reach a turnover of approximately 90 million. I Magredi closed 2024 with revenues of around 12 million euros.

I MAGREDI-VALDO, AN OPERATION STARTED 7 YEARS AGO

Valdo’s entry into I Magredi dates back eight years, with the acquisition of a 20% stake in January 2018. The agreement developed over time until the decision to take over the entire capital, providing continuity to a collaboration already operational on the production level.

«Valdo and I Magredi share values such as family tradition, a strong bond with the territory, a wealth of experience, and a passion for the vineyard. All combined with innovation and entrepreneurial intuition.

FROM COMMON PROJECT TO INTEGRATION: THE ROLE OF FRIULI IN DEVELOPMENT

The objective of the partnership was to expand Prosecco production in the Friuli area and more closely monitor grape management. This collaboration led to a dedicated line, presented at Vinitaly 2019, as the first concrete result of the shared project.

I Magredi is located in the Friuli Grave DOC, an area that Valdo has progressively integrated into its production structure. The presence in Friuli allows the historic Valdobbiadene territory to be supported by a complementary production base.

VALDO’S NUMBERS AFTER THE I MAGREDI ACQUISITION

With the integration of I Magredi, Valdo adds approximately 12 million euros in revenue to a 2024 base of less than 80 million. The projection for 2025 remains around 90 million, in a context of sustained growth also achieved through targeted operations.

The milestone of Valdo’s 100th anniversary therefore coincides with a strategic transition. The acquisition marks an evolution in the company’s journey, consolidating its size and expanding its production presence beyond its original boundaries.

THE WINES OF THE I MAGREDI WINERY

Production at I Magredi is diverse and covers various types, from white to red wines, as well as sparkling wines. Among the whites are labels based on typical Friulian grape varieties such as Friulano, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Ribolla Gialla, and aromatic Traminer.

On the red wine front, the winery primarily offers international and local varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso. The range also includes sparkling wines, including Prosecco DOC and Ribolla Gialla Brut, as well as Metodo Classico references. The I Magredi winery portfolio is positioned in a predominantly accessible price range, with a broad offering designed to cover different consumer segments.
