Benvenuto Brunello 2025 in Montalcino: 2021 vintage takes center stage

Thursday marks the start of the 34th edition of Benvenuto Brunello, the preview event by the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino dedicated to the Tuscan red. From Friday through November 24, Montalcino will welcome journalists, buyers, trade professionals and enthusiasts from Italy and abroad. The glasses will feature the debut of Brunello 2021, Brunello Riserva 2020 and Rosso di Montalcino 2024. Moscadello and Sant’Antimo will also be present.

The technical tastings will be inaugurated by approximately one hundred Italian and international journalists and critics at the Chiostro di Sant’Agostino. The largest delegation is from the United States, followed by the United Kingdom, Canada and South Korea. Attendees will also come from Austria, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Scandinavia. On Friday, November 21, during the gala cocktail at the Chiostro di Sant’Agostino, the Leccio d’Oro awards will be presented, honors from the Consorzio given to those who promote Brunello culture in Italy and around the world.

FROM VINEYARD TO WORLD: THE TALK AT BENVENUTO BRUNELLO 2025

On Saturday, November 22, at the Chiesa di Sant’Agostino, the talk “From vineyard to world: wine tourism and experiences for the wine of the future” will take place, led by Corriere della Sera deputy editor Luciano Ferraro. Speakers will include Consorzio president Giacomo Bartolommei, Violante Gardini Cinelli Colombini on wine tourism, Roberta Ceretto for Ceretto Aziende Vitivinicole, Antonio Capaldo for Feudi di San Gregorio, Danilo Guerrini for Borgo San Felice Resort and Alojz Felix Jermann on digital marketing.

Following this, the presentation of the 2025 growing season and the evaluation of the 2021 vintage using the “Brunello Forma” method. The morning will conclude with the laying of the commemorative tile signed by Fondazione Una Nessuna Centomila. The work is created by Paola Minaccioni, who will be present in Montalcino to raise awareness against violence against women. Also on Saturday, the tasting tables will open at the Chiostro di Sant’Agostino, with walk-around tastings scheduled through Monday, November 24.
