What emerges are <strong>balanced, expressive wines with a solid structure<\/strong>, both in the ready-to-drink versions and those destined for aging.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This scenario emerged during the technical tasting of the <strong>24th edition of Anteprima Barbera<\/strong>, an event promoted by <strong>Coldiretti Asti<\/strong> and dedicated to promoting the symbolic grape variety of the Asti region. The event took place on Wednesday, December 10, at the <strong>PalaTartufo in Piazza Alfieri<\/strong>, Asti. <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-8285d2bd\"><h5 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">WORDS FROM VINCENZO GERBI<\/h5><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leading the tasting of the <strong>21 selected samples<\/strong> was Professor <strong>Vincenzo Gerbi<\/strong>, former Professor of Food Science and Technology at the University of Turin. &#8220;For Barbera, the future d\u2019Asti DOCG and Nizza DOCG, the 2025 vintage was limited in quantity but excellent in quality, with very balanced wines, rich in typical aromas and pleasant on the palate.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-40cd42e0\"><h5 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">THE WINES TASTED<\/h5><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The analyzed samples include <strong>13 future Barbera d\u2019Asti DOCG<\/strong> and <strong>8 future Nizza DOCG<\/strong> wines, coming from the main production areas of the Asti region: Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Agliano, Vaglio Serra, Albugnano, San Damiano d\u2019Asti, Asti, Montegrosso d\u2019Asti, Castagnole Lanze, Montemagno, Nizza Monferrato, Mombercelli, Casorzo, Castelnuovo Calcea, and Cisterna d\u2019Asti. The tasting was supported by <strong>laboratory analyses from the Piedmont Wine Research Center in San Damiano d\u2019Asti<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/www.winemag.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Anteprima-Barbera-2025-come-saranno-Asti-e-Nizza-Docg-2.jpg\" alt=\"Barbera 2025 Preview: What Asti and Nizza DOCG Will Be Like\" class=\"wp-image-95921\" title=\"Barbera 2025 Preview: What Asti and Nizza DOC Will Be Like. On average, the <strong>total alcohol content<\/strong> stands at <strong>14.56% vol<\/strong> (+0.18), while <strong>total acidity<\/strong> reaches <strong>7.04 g\/L<\/strong> (+0.63). The <strong>pH<\/strong> drops to <strong>3.5<\/strong> (-0.03).  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is also a significant increase in <strong>color intensity<\/strong>, which rises to <strong>1.21<\/strong> compared to <strong>0.88<\/strong> in 2024. <strong>Anthocyanins<\/strong> are up, with <strong>343 mg\/L<\/strong> (+17), as are <strong>total flavonoids<\/strong>, which reach <strong>2,038 mg\/L<\/strong> (+463). The <strong>tannin\/anthocyanin ratio<\/strong> is also increasing, moving from <strong>3.8 to 4.9<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-6cfd2170\"><h5 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">BALANCE AND EVOLUTIONARY POTENTIAL<\/h5><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe samples tasted are divided into wines that are more ready-to-drink but with great structure, and others more suitable for aging; in general, all are of a high level,\u201d Gerbi emphasized. \u201cThere is also a perfection in winemaking among almost all producers now.\u201d <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the same note was <strong>Daniele Rabbione<\/strong>, director of the Piedmont Wine Research Center and deputy director of Coldiretti Asti. \u201cWe can now confirm that the past season was an excellent vintage.
