The Producers&#8217; Association, founded in 2002 to protect and promote the quality of the variety, is renewing itself with new leadership and an ambitious project: <strong>to strengthen the wine&#8217;s identity and recognition<\/strong> on national and international markets. Will this truly be the one?  <\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-a00aa86e\"><h5 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">SCHIOPPETTINO DI PREPOTTO: NEW LEADERSHIP, OLD CHALLENGES<\/h5><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new Board of Directors, elected in recent days, is led by <strong>Riccardo Caliari<\/strong> (Spolert Winery), supported by <strong>Riccardo Polegato<\/strong> (La Viarte) as vice-president, <strong>Daniele Lenuzza<\/strong> (Vigna Lenuzza) as secretary, and board members <strong>Stefano Traverso<\/strong> (Vigna Traverso) and <strong>Michela Marinig<\/strong> (Marinig di Marinig Valerio).<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<strong>Now we have a dream<\/strong>,\u201d Caliari explains, \u201cto see Schioppettino di Prepotto as the <strong>primary wine produced by Prepotto&#8217;s wineries<\/strong>, which today\u2014as has historically happened in Friuli\u2014produce various wines from native varieties without a common focus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo achieve this goal,\u201d the new president continues, \u201cwe will work in parallel on product quality, focusing on the elegant style that represents the wine and the territory, and on the strength of the brand in Italy and abroad. It will be a journey lasting between five and ten years that will require human and financial resources, but all the conditions for success are there.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-10daa55d\"><h5 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">AN ANCIENT WINE LOOKING TO THE FUTURE<\/h5><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Schioppettino is a grape variety with ancient, likely medieval, origins. The name comes from the Friulian term \u201cScopp,\u201d referring to the crunchy sound of the berries. Also known as Ribolla Nera, Schioppettino <strong>risked extinction in the 1970s<\/strong> due to powdery mildew and phylloxera.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its rebirth began right here in Prepotto, in the Judrio valley, where the <strong>microclimate and \u201cponca\u201d soils provide ideal conditions<\/strong> for cultivation.
